Companies that produce pine tar do it by heating the wood in an enclosed chamber. The tar is collected and used in a number of products that include wood preservatives and yes, soap.  In fact two of the leading pine-tar soap companies have been in production for over 100 years. The soap makers claim pine-tar soaps are an effective treatment of psoriasis and eczema, work successfully as dandruff shampoo bars, and contain deodorizing and insect-repelling properties.
